Development of the Floorless Coaster began between 1995 and 1996 with Medusa (now known as <i>Bizarro<\/i>) at Six Flags Great Adventure opening on April 2, 1999, making it the world&#8217;s first Floorless Coaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The design of a floorless coaster has many simularities to a sitdowncoaster, but also some differences. The simularities are that in both rollercoaster you sit in trains above the track and the coaster has some inversions.<br>The differences between the two types of rollercoasters are only located in the floors.<br>A normal sitdown coaster has trains with floors, where in a floorless train your feet are dangling free above the track. For loading and unloading of a floorless train there are special floors in the station that can be lowered and lifted between te cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/1280px-Kraken_SeaWorld_Orlando_01.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/1280px-Kraken_SeaWorld_Orlando_01-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-527\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/1280px-Kraken_SeaWorld_Orlando_01-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/1280px-Kraken_SeaWorld_Orlando_01-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/1280px-Kraken_SeaWorld_Orlando_01-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/1280px-Kraken_SeaWorld_Orlando_01.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The following year 4 more floorless coasters opened to the public.<br>Superman: Krypton Coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Medusa at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom,&nbsp;Batman: Knight Flight at Six Flags Ohio and <a href=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/?page_id=277\">Kraken<\/a> at SeaWorld Orlando.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kraken was the last one to open that year, but it is one of the more loved floorless coasters because of the ride layout and the theming of the ride.<br>But Batman: Knight Flight had a slightly longer track. It has the signature B&amp;M pre-drop before going down a straight drop, instead of a swooping drop like on most B&amp;M looping coasters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Scream.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-3\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Scream.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-529\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Scream.jpg 960w, https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Scream-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Scream-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2003 Six Flags Magic Mountain opened a clone of the first floorless coaster ever opened.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/?page_id=202\">Scream!<\/a>, got the beloved layout of Medusa (Six Flags Great Adventure), but got the worst location possible in the park. Scream! is located on a former area of the parkinglot, with the tarmac still in place.<br>This makes Scream! one of the least popular rides of the park, with waiting times of less than 5 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Tivoligardens1.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-4\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Tivoligardens1-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-532\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Tivoligardens1-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Tivoligardens1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Tivoligardens1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Tivoligardens1.jpg 1025w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On 16 april 2004 Tivoli Gardens in Denmark opened the smallest B&amp;M floorless to date.<br><b>D\u00e6monen<\/b> or Demon reaches a height of 92 feet, is 1,850.4 feet long, and reaches a maximum speed of 48 miles per hour. The roller coaster features a vertical loop, an immelmann loop, and a zero-gravity roll. D\u00e6monen replaced <i>Slangen<\/i>, a family roller coaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A record number of guests attended the park in the coasters opening year, but the public has since given the ride mixed reviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Hair-Raiser.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-5\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"574\" src=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Hair-Raiser.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Hair-Raiser.jpg 1020w, https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Hair-Raiser-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Hair-Raiser-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After another floorless installation in 2005 with Hydra the Revenge (Dorney Park), that was again not so well recieved by the fans, the next installation had more or less the impact of an atom bomb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hair Raiser which opened in 2011 at the Ocean Park in Hong Kong to rave review, al because of the interesting layout and the impressive location of the rollercoaster.<br>With the lifthill and firstdrop going up and down a vertical cliff, you have a great view at the waters of East Lamma Channel from every part of the ride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The last floorless coaster to open to the public is Nitro at Adlabs Imagica in India.<br>This coaster has the same layout as Insane Speed which opened in 2001 at Janfusun Fancyworld in Taiwan, except from a different first drop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/rougarou.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-6\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"665\" src=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/rougarou.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/rougarou.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/rougarou-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/rougarou-768x511.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest trend is to transform older Standup coasters into Floorless coasters, because these older standup coasters seam to be not very popular with the crowd.<br>This allready happend to the former Mantis at Cedar Point, which is called Rougarou after it&#8217;s conversion in 2015. But the fans say this new Floorless conversion is less powerfull than a real floorless coaster.<br>For 2017 another standup coaster will be converted to floorless. This is <a href=\"https:\/\/bm-list.oldehanhoff.nl\/?page_id=161\">Vortex<\/a> at California&#8217;s Great America.
